More than just ordering a guitar.
A custom guitar at Unquendor Guitars starts with a conversation.
Each instrument is built one at a time in my workshop, shaped around the player it is made for.
Because of this, only a limited number of instruments are built each year.
From the first ideas and sketches to the final setup, you are involved in every step of the process. Together we choose the woods, hardware, and details that define the instrument.
During the build I share regular updates from the workshop, so you can follow how the guitar gradually takes shape. What begins as raw wood slowly becomes a finished instrument.
In the end, the result is more than a guitar.
It is an instrument built specifically for the player who will use it.

Getting started
If you are considering a custom guitar, the first step is simply getting in touch.
We arrange a personal meeting, either at the workshop or online, where we talk about the kind of instrument you have in mind. This can start with a clear idea, or just a general direction.
During this conversation we look at the main elements of the build: the model, woods, hardware, and overall character of the instrument.
Afterwards I will provide an initial estimate so you have a clear idea of the scope of the project.

The Building Process

Ready for pick up
Design
Once we agree on the general direction of the instrument, we move into the design phase.
At this stage a design fee of €250 (excl. VAT) applies. This covers the time needed to develop the detailed design of your guitar, including drawings and a full specification.
During this phase we finalise the important decisions such as wood selection, hardware, finishes and other details. You will receive a clear design drawing and specification sheet that defines the instrument.
If you decide to proceed with the build, the design fee is deducted from the final price of the guitar.
Quotation and Planning
After the design is finalised, I provide a detailed quotation and an estimated timeline for the start of the build and delivery.
Custom guitars typically start from €11500 (excl. VAT), depending on the specifications and materials.
Once the quotation is accepted, the build is secured with a deposit before work begins.
The remaining balance is due upon completion.
Selecting Materials
If you like, you are welcome to join me when selecting woods from my suppliers.
Together we can choose the pieces that will become part of your instrument.
Building the Guitar
When the build begins, the instrument gradually takes shape in the workshop.
During this phase I share regular updates with photos and videos so you can follow the progress of your guitar.
Many clients visit the workshop at least once during the build to fine-tune details such as the neck shape
Collection or Delivery
When the guitar is finished you are invited to the workshop to collect it in person.
This allows us to do the final setup together.
If visiting is not possible, the instrument can be shipped fully insured.
Every guitar is delivered with a full warranty on the build and hardware.
